Season 2

All (good) things come to an end, also all the storylines of the season. Except for one.

Patrick takes in his brother's son Johnny and he promises to find him, which fails until he's caught at another arson, now against the crucial power facility itself. The merger is now enforced as final decision, never minds half the team claiming they won't execute it, while Tom's pragmatical approach gradually wins over those initially scolding them 'traitors'. Orlando recovers well, but after thinking in hospital decides to resign and move to Sweden with Noah and Maaike. Before telling the team, Orlando prepares with adjutant Marquet his going away present: the team is allowed to remain together within the merged post.

Orlando is shocked to discover, attending his ex Maaike's firm party, she's being promoted to Sweden anyway, and needs hospital care after ignoring another absurd order to stay outside during an intervention at a fire with chemical hazards, where he helped save lives. Patrick searches his missing brother Raf, the mayor's prime suspect for the car blow-up, taking Raf's gentle son Johnny under his wing. Ever-helpful Boris gets an official reprimand and trouble with his girlfriend for meddling in the private life of the nut case he saved from suicide once, breaking in supposing a relapse after she remains unresponsive for days. Cancer-terminal senior fireman Henri is off duty, full-time tending his family oyster culture, so Nina is no longer useful.

To Patrick's horror, the mayor blames him and reconsiders the fishing boats deal now his car seems blown up, even before the pyrotechnical investigation. Tom aptly assists Skippy to ascertain it was arson, while jealous Nina seeks to get physical with him again and the chief orders him off the case. Ambulance driver Noelle is about to be fired when she finally confides her reason to bail off, a bailiff expelling her from home due to debts started by her ex. Tom now waves Nina's implicit jealousy of fire studies coach Skippy. They must still collaborate during a prison riot with arson, where Tom takes off his helmet to win crucial sympathy with a desperate convict who planned to just stay and burn. Even replacing Boris's rickety firetruck which broke in action proves a pressure means to question to station's survival as a merger would solve this.The team sticks together attempting to cover for the medic who deserted in full action, but it's on record. Boris gets personal with a panic suicide victim he saved, returning to fix the apartment, and assists Nina rescuing her former foster parents after a car smashed into their home, and revived how they dumped her as wayward teen.

Orlando and the other seniors haze medic Tom, whose one-year apprenticeship is completed, even stashing drugs in his pocket during a canine search exercise. The fire chief systematically ignores all complaint from the fire station, which is doomed to be merged into another. The mayor supports her, but hints at Patrick he may reconsider if the 'power plug' for wind energy gets fixed, which is object of virulent opposition from local small coastal fishermen, headed by Patrick's estranged brother, who still refuses to see him and umps rotten fish before city hall. Tom studies to become a forensic fire expert, but is ignored and overruled about a flash danger which occurs while Orlando and old Henri are on the ladder.
